Grade II listed boutique hotel and gastro pub, The Carnarvon Arms near Highclere, has been crowned Historic Luxury Hotel of the Year, Berkshire, in this year’s Luxury Travel Guide Awards.
The awards celebrate excellence in the global hotel sector, commending those who excel in providing exemplary hospitality and service, innovative design and excellent food. Winners are divided by country and region and categorised according to a number of sectors, including modern and historic luxury, sea view and country retreat.
Originally a coaching inn serving travellers to-and-from Highclere Castle, The Carnarvon Arms has a long history of welcoming prestigious and famous guests through its doors, including Alfred, Lord Tennyson and General Eisenhower in times gone by and members of the cast of ITV production Downton Abbey in more recent years.
In 2015 The Carnarvon Arms underwent a major renovation project under the management of new owners, Redcomb Pubs Ltd. Following the acquisition of the pub and hotel from Marco Pierce White in June 2015, Redcomb has worked hard to reinstate The Carnarvon Arms to its former glory and its trusted position within the local community.
Commenting on winning the award, Simon Mcloughlin, general manager at The Carnarvon Arms says;
“We are over-the-moon to have received this award, especially bearing in mind how recently we have reopened. Thank you to all those who have supported us in helping put The Carnarvon Arms firmly back on the hospitality map in Berkshire.”
Dan Shotton, MD at Redcomb Pubs Ltd adds;
“Re-launching the Carnarvon Arms has been a fabulous and rewarding journey for us. We pride ourselves on offering top notch hospitably to the local community and visitors from further afield, and it is a great affirmation of our efforts to be acknowledged by the Luxury Travel Guide.”
